AFW 2017

Today I went to Anime Festival Wichita with my friend Courtney. Courtney and I really enjoy going to conventions together. We actually met at AFW several years ago and have been friends and convention buddies ever since.
We almost didn't get to go. Though she'd had the plan to go all along, I didn't think I'd be able to until the last minute. Once I realized I could go everything was a whirlwind to get ready. Making plans, getting my (albeit unimpressive) Pokemon trainer costume together, everything. But it all came together beautifully and we got to enjoy one of the best days I've had in a long time.

Vampiress Cocktail Recipe

Last year I was introduced to the Virus Vodka brand of vodka through a review done by the Homicidal Homemaker. I have never really been much of a drinker so it's hard to find alcoholic drinks that I can stomach, but while I was browsing the Virus Vodka website I came across the recipe for a drink that fit my very particular tastes for cocktails.

20z Cranberry Juice (can also be substituted for Code Red Mountain Dew, I found this out after coming home wanting a vampiress but finding that our cranberry juice had expired)

It's a simple recipe but very good! It's my favorite drink to have when working, especially when I'm working on my horror stories. The taste doesn't burn quite as much as some other alcoholic drinks I've tried but it's also not so weak that I might as well have just been dri…

What does it mean to live beautifully? Is it in the way you dress? Surely style can't be the only key to a lovely life of lace and flowers. Is it in the way you carry yourself? Holding ones head up high in spite of the thorns on the rose of the world can be difficult if you don't feel it inside and out. Finding beauty in the world is hard. Our day-to-day lives don't leave much room for such a fairy tale and sometimes it's easy to fall prey to the malicious fangs of the monsters that lurk in the darkness of our lives. But what constitutes beauty? I believe it's different for everyone. For me, it's the ritual behind things like drinking cold milk from a tea cup. It's French tips on my fingernails, and adding to the world through my work. Even if the pool of those who see it is small and niche. I'm one of those people who has a variety of styles and can never fully settle on one. Nu Goth one minute, psychobilly the next, with lacy tinges of Lolita in all f…
